DESCRIPTION:Juneteenth is the holiday that marks the end of slavery in the United States\, has been observed for over 150 years and is considered by some to be our country's second Independence Day. \n\n \n\nNew Albany's event will take place at the Hinson Amphitheater on Monday\, June 19 from 4   8 p.m. and includes spoken word performances\, drumming and dancing\, music\, children's activities and food trucks. \n\n \n\nJuneteenth Program of Events:\n\n4:00pm  A capella performance of "Lift Every Voice and Sing" by Carter Minor and Edin Kebede\n\n4:05pm  Ani Mwalimu - spoken word\n\n4:25pm GOREE Drum and Dance\n\n5:00pm  Poet Cynthia Amoah\n\n5:40pm  NexLevel (urban jazz\, R&B\, gospel) \n\n6:40pm  City Council Juneteenth Proclamation\n\n6:50pm  LDNL (top 40 hits)                \n\nThroughout Event: DJ JDitto\, children's crafts\, face painter\, balloon twister\, caricature artist\n\n \n\nOn behalf of the City's IDEA Implementation Panel and the Juneteenth Focus Group\, we hope that you can join us as our community comes together to both celebrate and honor Juneteenth.
