NAYP LifeTown Volunteer Morning
All area YPs are invited to join the New Albany Young Professionals (NAYP) for a Service morning Tuesday, November 12, 2019. By volunteering for a couple of hours, you?ll get so much more in return from interacting with the students!
About LifeTown
LifeTown is a realistic, indoor "simulated" city located at the Lori Schottenstein Chabad Center in New Albany where students with disabilities (mild to severe) visit with their schools to learn and practice important life skills. Everything in the LifeTown village is working and real. Volunteers through role-play, help students learn life skills in a supportive, safe and secure environment.
We all learn best by doing, so role-playing is a fun way to learn critical life skills? and make mistakes safely. By role-playing as shopkeepers and other community members, volunteers provide students with supported real-world experience. Whether role-playing as a banker, librarian, police officer, doctor, manicurist, or ice cream vendor, caring and supportive adult volunteers at LifeTown are instrumental in helping students with disabilities to transition to the great, big world.
